Artist Statement

While living in Paris in 1967 I was 41 years old and didn’t know a damn thing about painting. One day a good friend Vincent Haddelsey, after proving myself worthy, gave me a set of oil paints which started my career. I am a naive self taught painter. My passion for painting is the same as my indulgence for sex which has been plenty and bountiful. My work is not only erotic but conveys the desires that most people think about but are too afraid to express. While living in Rome an Italian artisan taught me to work in silver and gold. My jewelry shows my philosophy of life; in that on first viewing one does not realize the erotic content until one takes a second glance. I have sold my work to Ringo Starr, Federico Fellini, Led Zeppelin, and Steven Sondheim.
